Our Promise

PerchedCrowPress is a small independent publisher. Despite our size, we do everything in our power to ensure the quality of the books we bring to print. That process means that we do not use AI in any capacity in our book catalogue. Our books are written, edited, and packaged by humans alone.

We publish writers who are struggling to get there (local writers so far). Currently, we have a limited number of authors on our team, our founder, Phil Hughes, and our debut Epic Fantasy author, John De Búrca.

Phil, writing in different genres, uses the nom de plume Micheál Cladáin for his ancient historical fantasy novels. Phil writes his historical crime novels using his own name.

After 35 years as a professional editor and having published 30+ books, Phil has jotted down a few thoughts here.

Our list of writers might be limited, however, 2025 is set to be the year of expansion, and we are planning to add new writers to our growing indie business. Keep your eyes open for when our submissions window is open—it will be around September, but is open for a limited time only.
