During his reign, Conaire The Great was known as the Peaceful King. Reaving was forbidden and the five kingdoms were at peace. However, not all the people favoured peace – amid them, the warrior caste and it was only a matter of time before they once more took to reaving, reaving that would lead to the Peaceful King’s destruction!
Cladáin takes the story of Da Derga’s hostel and removes the faeries and the Sidhe and leaves what might be the history of the event.
He builds believable characters that are a joy to read. I would recommend Conaire to any who enjoy historical fiction and Celtic mythology.
